Smartphone photography and social media success - Sarah Weston & Annelies Hofmeyr
In this two part workshop, you will learn how to take better photos with your smartphone and get the lowdown on promoting yourself on Instagram. The morning’s session with Sarah Weston will look at smart phone tips and tricks to create stand out photography of your work which can be employed across online selling platforms, grant applications, media and communications. Sarah will cover editing images specifically in the iPhone Photos app, however she will also look at different third party apps which are available on both iPhone and Android systems. In the afternoon, Annelies Hofmeyr will guide you through some proven Instagram strategies to build your brand and discuss ways to maximise Instagram’s algorithm (i.e. get more followers!).

Sarah Weston is a writer, art consultant and Craft’s Retail and Development Manager. She works across retail and development, curatorial programming, social media, commissioning, and digital platforms. Sarah has worked to create an integrated and specific approach for craft practitioners to document their work, support narrative-driven practice and build their business. This workshop is regularly presented at Craft’s Sell-Out Photography Workshop.
Annelies Hofmeyr is a jeweller and conceptual artist and the brains behind @trophywifebarbie and @twbloves (300K+ joint followers on Instagram). Annelies is currently working in the Project Space at Northcity4 and she’s keen to share the Instagram strategies she implements to engage various audiences.
